Volunteer

There are lots of ways to participate at MZC, and volunteering is a great way to put your practice into action. Training is provided for all of our volunteer positions, so don't be afraid to try something new.

Jikido Prepare the zendo before practitioners arrive, keep track of time and ring the bells to begin and end periods of zazen and kinhin.

Doan Ring bells and lead chants during services.

Tenzo Prepare refreshments for tea after Sunday dharma talks, or cook a meal for he special oryoki meals during the two-day sittings held October through May. This latter is considered a particularly important and useful form of Zen practice.

Librarian Catalogue new library items, keep track of checkouts, generally maintain and promote the collection.

Board member Help oversee the governance of the center by working in the areas of policy setting, ambassadorship, stewardship and supervision. Directors are elected by the membership to one year terms. Meetings are usually held monthly or quarterly.

If you're interested in any of these volunteer opportunties, please e-mail or call MZC.
